Production Scheduler

Responsibilities:

  • PREPARATION AND DISTRIBUTION OF PRODUCTION SCHEDULE
    • On a daily basis, prepare and distribute schedules to production supervision while adhering to pull principles, monitor schedule attainment and follow-up significant concerns with production and/or management. 
    • Review customer requirements far enough in advance to detect potential problems in meeting those customer requirements.  This process must occur in a timeframe that allows for corrective action and minimize the impact to the customer
  • MAINTENANCE AND OPTIMIZATION OF INVENTORY
    • Continually evaluate (and adjust if necessary) inventory buffers based on demand variability, desired customer service levels and process capabilities. 
    • Take initiative to minimize total system obsolescence exposure. 
    • Use a problem solving method to determine root cause(s) and prevent recurrence of materials problems
  • CAPACITY PLANNING AND PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE SCHEDULING
    • Identify, report and recommend solutions on capacity restrictions for the purpose of proactive planning and elimination of bottlenecks that impact capacity planning. 
    • Schedule and coordinate with production and maintenance, machine and tools maintenance and/or overhauls
  • SYSTEM MAINTENANCE AND COMUNICATION
    • Liaise with Quality Assurance and Sales on quality issues that affect deliveries, communicate scheduling deviations with Customer Service, maintain up to date system files regarding new or changing data (e.g. PCN’s, TCN’s, BOM’s, etc.) 
    • Participate in information exchange with other departments as necessary

Qualifications:

Quality Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the quality systems including process control, product testing and customer quality standards.
  • Support  the quality staff in dealing with customer concerns and product enquiries and ensure responses are conducted in a timely manner.
  • Deal directly with customers on product concerns when significant potential debit charges are involved or the supplier customer relationship is being jeopardized.
  • Investigate substandard results and conducts research on product defects in order to make recommendations on changes in materials or processes.
  • Support customer concerns and/or questions from the Company’s Customer Service Representatives (ISR’s) 
  • Develop all quality training programs that are delivered to employees and facilitates when required
  • Attend meetings as per customer requests and translate requirements into plant systems and procedures.
  • Review/audit plant quality processes and procedures to ensure the Process Control Plans are adhered to.
  • Oversee an effective corrective action process for both internal and external quality issues

  • Manage a sustainable continuous improvement program with effective production operator’s involvement

  • Ensure control plans are accurate and managed as “Living Document” in all plant locations
  • Maintain required quality positions for all shifts, ensuring all personnel are properly trained, competent and fully knowledgeable of all the Company’s Quality System policies and procedures.
  • Manage all QA personnel, assigning responsibilities and ensuring all policies and procedures of the Company and American Petroleum Institute (API) quality requirements are followed at all times.  This includes, but is not limited to, handling employee concerns, reviewing performance, hiring and orientation of new employees, discipline and training
  • Plan, co-ordinate, organize, manage and review internal quality audits of the Company and API Quality System to ensure conformance to standards; ensure all auditors are properly trained and capable of carrying out the audits; follow up all non-conformances found during audits to ensure corrective action has been taken
  • Prepare annual budget and monitor performance of Quality department, providing explanations for variances to budget
  • Drive the process to improve and analyze product defects and non-conformances and develop, implement and verify corrective actions.  This includes Pareto analysis of defects, reviews of customer concerns and returns.
  • Ensure general lab testing requirements are managed and completed in a timely manner to avoid production/shipping interruptions.
  • Manage and implement continuous improvement activities to reduce incoming steel mill defects through a collaborative approach with the supplier base.
  • Promote quality awareness throughout the Company, emphasizing excellence, continuous improvement and servicing our customers is paramount
  • In conjunction with the Controller, implement a Cost of Quality program to provide financial visibility of the cost of poor quality
  • Approve and disposition all returned non-conforming material from the customer (RMA’s) in accordance with the procedures outlined in the Company and API Quality System.  Advise production and accounting departments; maintain records.
  • Prepare monthly updates for management on quality trends, defect sources and recommended corrective actions
  • Assist with the design of experiments (DOE’s) to determine what parameters affect the end product and recommend solutions.
  • Oversee and approve departmental purchase requisitions within budget specifications.
  • Facilitate customer presentations on quality systems used within and develop all required materials/handouts.
  • Conduct customer on-site visits as required to evaluate situation and recommends resolution.
  • Participate in Quality System audits and offer expertise and direction during process.
  • Perform other reasonable duties and activities as requested by management.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience as a Quality Manager in a steel related manufacturing environment.
  • Proven track record within a pipe manufacturing environment would be a great asset
  • Strong metallurgical skill set is mandatory.
  • Working knowledge of Non Destructive Testing (NDT) techniques is a great asset
  • Experience in managing Quality Systems meeting ISO, TS and API requirements
  • Extensive knowledge of quality engineering techniques including FMEA’s, Control Plan’s and SPC
  • Track record in managing an effective Corrective Action Program with multidiscipline team participation

Molding Process Technician

Reporting to the Molding Shift Supervisor, the Process Technician is responsible for managing and directing resources to tackle technical issues that arise during the shift that results in meeting safety, quality and delivery targets and to foster a working environment that is fair, equitable and driven to continuously improve.

Responsibilities:

  • Health & Safety
    • Ensures all team members are trained and performing in a safe and efficient manner using appropriate PPE when applicable. Provide the training when appropriate
    • Assist shift supervisor in accident/incident investigations to determine root causes, corrective actions and follow-up to ensure completion
    • Proactively identify and suggest ways to eliminate hazards
    • Correct unsafe acts or conditions, ensuring health & safety policies are followed
    • Regularly audit the shop floor to ensure compliance with policies and procedures and ensure that inspections are appropriately documented
       
  • Coordinate the Shift Molding Operations

    • Identify and communicate mold/machine problems to Tool Room and Maintenance. Act as a liaison between the various departments to address issues for timely corrective action
    • When paged by Machine Operator for help, attend to the request at the earliest.
    • Communicate with next and previous shifts to understand:
      • Technical issues that affect attainment and needs continued attention.
      • Quality issues that affect attainment
    • Assist Shift Supervisor in responding to NCR’s and PQI’s including establishing and following up on corrective action plans
       
  • Operate the Injection Molding Machine, Stacking Equipment and Molds

    Machine:

    • Perform complex troubleshooting and process adjustments
    • Start-up any Injection Molding machine without a saved set-up
    • Create master set-up sheet with all machine parameters when one does not exist
    • Set-up servo and mechanical swing chute. Maintain, troubleshoot and make adjustments if needed for proper functioning
    • Perform basic machine maintenance to help troubleshoot for maintenance

    Mold:

    • Make a decision to block cavities
    • Identify mold problems for repair and communicate to tooling department for corrective action

    Stacking Equipment:

    • Verify stacker set-up. Troubleshoot and make adjustments if needed for proper functioning
    • Set-up, troubleshoot Polystacker systems
  • Report and Document

    • Maintain master set-up sheets of all mold-machine combination in binders
    • Provide detail documentation on corrective actions taken to resolve mold/machine/stacker and quality issues
    • Complete and submit service request to the issuing department during the shift. Follow-up with service request to ensure that the necessary corrective action has been taken and the problem has been resolved
    • Print and file shop floor documentation for future reference
       
  • Develop Skills of Shop Floor Employees

    • Identify training needs for machine operators. Be certified in TWI and ensure TWI methods are being used to train team members
    • Ensure adherence to standard work and provide timely feedback
    • Provide training and coaching to machine operators on operating the machines effectively to produce quality parts
    • Lead continuous improvement projects and ensure machine operator participation

Maintenance Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Establish, implement and maintain a total maintenance system
  • Perform root cause analysis to identify causes of machine breakdowns (downtime analysis) and make recommendations to fix problem/issue
  • Responsible for developing an effective and functional Preventative Maintenance system
  • Responsible for administration of asset management system (MP2)
  • Conduct gap analysis of maintenance systems at all facilities
  • Work with Engineering/Quality/Production departments to provide input on equipment design and ensure quality standards are met and maintained

  • Ability to read circuit diagrams and blue print drawings, ability to work with SPC.
  • Mechanically inclined with strong knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic machinery, automation, electronic, electrical and PLC's.
  • Sound knowledge of industrial safety procedures.
  • Very good understanding of Canadian Standard Association and Ontario Electrical Code Book.

Quality Assurance/Lab Manager/Metallurgist

Responsibilities:
  • Monitoring and assessing the suitability of all processes employed to produce a completed Q & T pipe 
  • Working to maintain the structural and chemical integrity of the metal as it is formed and machined through the various mechanical processes
  • Testing samples of metal parts as they move through the mechanical processes in order to ensure that the end result meets the manufacturing requirements of Company
  • Prepare and supervise the preparation of metal samples and performing physical and chemical laboratory tests
  • Developing specifications for heat treatment of metals and troubleshooting welding processes
  • Managing and supervising the lab technicians, including conducting  annual performance reviews and regular supervision meetings, in a manner that supports the operations in the development and execution of annual plans

Materials Planner

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and distribute daily schedules to production supervision while adhering to pull principles,

  • In conjunction with the Customer, determine and maintain optimum levels of in-mold label (IML) and shrink sleeve (SS) stock inventories. 
  • Track all inventory of both IML and SS in the database and maintain system accuracy. 
  • Liaise with Customers , Accounting, Sales and Customer Service to confirm customer on hand inventories
  • Review on hand inventories of IML & SS 
  • Perform daily cycle counts and problem investigation as needed. 
  • Monitor and report inventory variance issues, document all inventory discrepancies and adjust records.
  • Monitor and coordinate “balanced out” inventories (e.g. those items affected by changes in artwork design and changes in material or shape). 
  • Use problem solving to determine root cause and prevent reoccurrence of inventory accuracy problems.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for monitoring, analyzing, adjusting and communicating the master schedule to maximize the utilization of resources, such as labor, tools, materials and facility capacity.
  • Analyzing production specifications and plant capacity data and performs mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, tools.
  • Expedites operations that delay schedules and alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
  • Analyzes and interprets bills of material, scopes, specifications, etc., to determine the content & plan manageable work elements.
  • Ensures all stakeholders are fully cognizant of production status and that work planning and execution objectives are integrated & communicated.
  • Initiates replacement orders for lost, damaged or discrepant items.
  • Gather business metrics as required and periodically report these metrics to the management.

  • Minimum 5 years experience in injection molding preferably in a thin wall molding environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure accident/incident investigations are carried out and documented to determine root causes, corrective actions and following-up to ensure completion.
